Homecoming: A Night Under the Stars to remember
Jesuit High School Sacramento’s annual homecoming will kick off on Saturday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m.
Director of Student Activities Mr. Peter Ferrari believes homecoming is one of the exciting parts of the Jesuit experience.
“I know that [the students] get really excited about it; this is my fifth year in this position, and Homecoming has pretty consistently been on par with Holy Bowl as one of the things that the students get the most excited for at the beginning of the year,” Mr. Ferrari said. “It’s just something that has become a really important tradition to our community that they really enjoy, really love.”
Senior Class President Brady McMains ’26 feels that homecoming is an event that students shouldn’t miss.
“Students should go to homecoming because if they don’t, they’re missing out on an opportunity, they might not get later,” Brady said. “Homecoming is a really nice way to be able to connect with people, make new friends, see some old faces, and just have a good time.”
This year, Jesuit is adding homecoming royalty for the first time.
“This year, for the first time ever, we are implementing our first homecoming court,” Brady said. “That’s been my vision for about two years now, and I’m very excited. We’re going to have a Senior King and Junior Prince on our first ever homecoming court and I’m looking forward to how that’s going to play out.”
Mr. Ferrari hopes the tradition of homecoming court will add more to Jesuit than just fun, and add to the community values.
“Homecoming Court was a student idea that [the students] are really excited about,” Mr. Ferrari said. “Whenever we do something new, I wonder, is it going to take? Is it going to work? Is it worth doing? And [the students] convinced me by making it about our community and our community’s values, emphasizing that we’re not just picking the most popular, but picking those nominated by peers and then my faculty and staff, [that] fit the Grad-at-Grad.”
Homecoming tickets are available for purchase here, with single tickets going for $17.50 and a couple tickets for $35. Additionally, voting for homecoming court is open now.
