Jesuit Auction amazes and astounds

Tuition at Jesuit High School Sacramento does not cover the full cost of educating a student, so Jesuit has to create fundraising activities to provide essential revenue. The Jesuit Auction event does help to fill the gap in a fun and fruitful manner.

“The auction is our single biggest fundraising effort, so it is of high importance for the operations of the school, and the money we raise at the auction goes to cover the gap between what we charge in tuition and the actual cost to educate young men at Jesuit High School,” said Principal Dr. Michael Wood ’99. “It allows us to fund our programs, pay our teachers, [and] keep our facility at its high operating capacity.”

Director of Auctions and Events Mrs. Kimberly Kalmbach agrees with the Auction’s financial role and also sees it as a great way to build community at Jesuit.

“We raise critical funds for the school that help us close the ‘gap’ between what we charge in tuition and what it actually costs to educate each student at Jesuit,” Mrs. Kalmbach said. “It is also an important community building event that brings together current parents and long-time Jesuit supporters to support the school.”

Co-Chair for the Auction Mrs. Jennifer Hall says that auction-goers should expect to see a gym design inspired by the shores of Italy, coupled with an exciting party featuring good food and wonderful entertainment.

“The theme this year is ‘Catch me in Capri,’” said Mrs. Hall. “You should expect to see the gym transformed into the Italian coast, we will have outstanding live auction items, an exciting raffle, fun parties to purchase tickets to, delicious food and drink, and entertainment by our Chamber Choir singers.”

The Jesuit Auction Event is made possible by the huge participation of parents and student volunteers.

“Parents can donate their time, talent, and treasure to help support the Auction,” Mrs. Kalmbach said. “We have hundreds of volunteers, donors, and sponsors that all come together to support the school. We also have about 100 students that participate by being servers for dinner.”

As the Jesuit Auction Event is crucial in supporting Jesuit financially, we ask all who can to attend and help financially support Jesuit’s educational goals. The Auction Event will be held in the Fr. Barry Gym on March 25, 2023.
