Joey Elftmann ’00 Joins Jesuit High School Volleyball as Head Coach
Jesuit High School Sacramento is proud to announce that Associate Dean of Students Joey Elftmann ‘00 has been appointed as the new head coach of Jesuit’s volleyball program for the coming season. An accomplished alum and former player, Elftmann has over 15 years of coaching experience, including stints at Sacramento State, UC Davis, and the University of San Francisco. He brings with him multiple national championships and was twice named the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League Coach of the Year.

Initial Phase of Pedestrian Crosswalk Construction
Dear Jesuit faculty, staff, families, and neighbors,
Effective Saturday, August 17, 2024, Jesuit High School Sacramento, in partnership with contracted agencies, will begin the initial phase of the pedestrian crosswalk construction on American River Drive adjacent to the campus between Jacob Lane and Piccadilly Circle.
Jesuit High School Sacramento Renames Field to Honor Fallen Hero Shane Barnes ’07
Jesuit will host the Barnes family during the dedication ceremony in conjunction with the season’s opening Friday night home football game under lights
SACRAMENTO, CA —Jesuit High School Sacramento is honored to announce the renaming of its iconic Loyola Field in Marauder Stadium to Chief Warrant Officer 2 Shane Barnes ‘07 Field. Barnes, a 2007 graduate of Jesuit Sacramento, served in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and was one of five U.S. service members who died in a tragic military training exercise over the Mediterranean Sea in November 2023. This dedication pays tribute to his life, legacy, and ultimate sacrifice in service to his country.

Reminders for the start of school
Parents and Friends,
I hope this message finds you well and that your summer activities have been restful and joyful. Since I last wrote to you, we have been busy with an array of summer projects to update our facilities. We are close to finishing the renovation of five science classrooms, and we are working on the highly anticipated stadium lights project. The Summer Programs have been a huge success, with students of all ages taking credit classes, college application workshops, athletic camps, academy camps, and Camp Marauder. I am pleased to report that we are fully staffed with four new teachers and one new wellness counselor. Teachers are engaging in a variety of professional development programs and are starting to get ready for the always busy academic year.

County approves installation of stadium lights
Jesuit High School of Sacramento is thrilled to announce that the County of Sacramento has approved its stadium lighting project. On June 4, 2024, the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to uphold the unanimous approval vote by the Planning Commission earlier this spring. The installation of permanent stadium lights at Marauder Stadium marks a significant milestone for the school and its athletic program.

Appeal date set for June 4, still time to submit letters of support!
In response to an appeal filed by the opposition against the Planning Commission’s unanimous vote in support of the lights, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will hear the Jesuit Lighting Permit Use Amendment request on June 4, 2024.

Jesuit Rugby to Make Historic Debut in Japan’s World Rugby Youth Tournament
SACRAMENTO, CA - Jesuit High School Sacramento proudly announces its Varsity Rugby team’s selection to participate in the prestigious 2024 Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament in Muakata City, Fukuoka, Japan. The international invitation marks a significant milestone as Jesuit Rugby becomes the first team from the United States to compete in this esteemed international event.

Spring 2024 Stadium Lighting project update
Jesuit High School Sacramento’s stadium lighting project was heard by the Sacramento County Planning Commission on March 11, 2024. The commission voted unanimously to approve the installation of permanent stadium lights at Marauder Stadium, marking a significant milestone for the school and its athletic program. Despite the Commission’s approval, Jesuit learned just before 5:00 p.m.

Message from the Dean’s Office
Campus Safety Sweep: On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, we held our fourth routine campus safety check of the school year. These safety checks are completed in conjunction with our partners from K9 Proactive along with their trained search dogs and consist of a sweep of classrooms, locker rooms, offices, and the parking lot. The K9 Proactive dogs are trained to detect explosives, alcohol, gunpowder, prescription drugs that can be abused, illicit drugs, and other substances that are banned from school property.
Holy Rollers spares no expense
For more than 50 years, the Holy Rollers Bowling Club at Jesuit High School Sacramento has provided students an outlet for fun and social bowling. The club aims to spread bowling in a non-competitive and welcoming way.
