Join us for our annual Food Drive

Dear parents and families of Jesuit High School,

Starting on November 17 and ending on December 5, we are excited to begin this year’s holiday season with our annual Food Drive! The Food Drive is Jesuit’s longest standing tradition, with 2025 being our 59th consecutive year. For the last 46 of these 59 years, Jesuit has been partnered with the Stanford Settlement in their food drive called Operation Cratchit. All of the donations we receive goes directly to the Stanford Settlement, which they then distribute to families in North Sacramento.

Weekly Update Nov 6, 2025

Attendance is a crucial part of the learning experience for all students.  Throughout the first quarter of this school year, we have experienced a high volume of students arriving at school tardy to begin the day.  In addition to the impact that being late has on the tardy student, a high volume of students trickling into classes has a disruptive impact on the classroom environment for the teachers and other students.  We ask for your assistance in making a conscious effort to help students arrive on campus by 8:00am.  We recognize that traffic patterns and road construction make this a challenge; however, we want all students to have the resources and support at school to continue to be successful academically.

Thank you to all in our community who attended our first informational and formational sessions with school leadership this week. We were grateful to engage in meaningful conversation with more than 150 families from across all grade levels. Your questions, insights, and presence are helping shape this important transition.

We have more sessions planned! Visit the /Next section of our website (located in the navigation bar next to Press Room) to find upcoming events and resources related to the co-divisional transition. The section will continue to grow as we share updates, answer questions, and provide tools to support our community throughout the process.

A message from our School President

    Dear Jesuit Families,

It has been a wonderful few weeks seeing our campus come alive again — filled with the energy, joy, and spirit of our students. Whether at our Parents Dinners, Back-to-School Night, or cheering together at Friday night football, I’ve been deeply moved by the many ways we gather as a Jesuit family to celebrate one another and the incredible young men we serve.

Every conversation with you, every walk around campus, every interaction with a student, leaves me energized and profoundly grateful.

Lately, I’ve been mindful of the Ignatian way of proceeding: to discern, to collaborate, and to act with purpose and love, all for the greater glory of God.  These values are reflected not only in our daily work on campus, but also in the leadership work of our Board of Trustees. With 23 dedicated members — including nine who are alumni, six current parents, nine alumni parents, and two Jesuits — our Board brings deep wisdom and a spirit of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (AMDG) to their generous service.

Together, we stay focused on mission richness, enrollment and revenue predictability, and long-term sustainability. This Board is about to meet for its annual retreat, a time for them to reflect on how we can best serve our students, families, and alumni — ensuring Jesuit remains the premier leader of the Catholic educational experience in our region long into the future.

For over 60 years, Jesuit has not just been a school with a mission — we are a mission with a school.

I invite you to join us in this mission throughout the year. Come to campus events, connect with me, our faculty, and our staff, and bring your friends! Jesuit is more than a place of learning — it is a home where lifelong memories are made and futures are shaped.

    With gratitude and hope,

    Chris Alling
President, Jesuit High School of Sacramento

    Life and spirit on campus

“Whatever you are doing, that which makes you feel the most alive… that is where God is.” — St. Ignatius of Loyola

These words from St. Ignatius, founder of the Society of Jesus, speak directly to the heart of Ignatian spirituality: finding God in all things, especially in the moments that stir our deepest passions and purpose.

Beginning Monday, two special themed weeks will come together to fill our campus with life and spirit —Spirit Week and National Suicide Prevention Week.

Our Jesuit Student Council and TeamCARE Club (along with our Counseling and Wellness staff) have scheduled a mix of informational events and spirited activities. We encourage families to engage in dialogue with their students about the themes and topics they encounter throughout the week and to participate in the daily spirited activities.

Please read below for more on all the happenings – including a special invitation for parents to attend and hear our guest speakers at the Schoolwide suicide prevention assembly during the day with your son or the evening presentation at 6 pm Tuesday, September 9. A suicide-attempt survivor and the man who helped him will share the story that has changed both their lives, which is now focused on the power of trust, communication, and working together.

Reminders for the start of school

    Parents and Friends,

Welcome to a new school year at Jesuit High School! As we begin our transformative journey, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued partnership and trust in our mission of forming young people who are intellectually competent, open to growth, loving, religious, and committed to doing justice. The start of each year brings with it new opportunities, fresh perspectives, and a renewed sense of purpose. I’m excited to see our students return with energy, curiosity, and a desire to grow not only in knowledge, but also in character and faith.

During the summer months, Jesuit has been busy with an array of summer projects to update our facilities and prepare for the new school year. Students and parents who enter through the Jacob lane side of campus will notice upgraded security with new fences, gates, and cameras. New instructional technology has been installed in all science classrooms in Alumni Hall to finalize the science refresh project. Members of the faculty engaged in dozens of professional development programs to advance their skills and abilities in their craft and/or subject area. We are ready.

At the heart of Jesuit education is the belief that each student is uniquely gifted and called to develop those gifts in service to others. Guided by the Ignatian tradition, our most excellent faculty and staff strive to create a community where academic excellence is an instrument of transformation and growth. These dedicated educators will spend the year re-engaging with a critical aspect of Jesuit education, the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP). The IPP emphasizes a student-centered approach, where learning is both reflective and transformative. We are excited to witness the fruits of this mission-centric work.

St. Ignatius tells us to savor deeply those things that fill and satisfy our soul. I pray that each of you find ways to recognize and savor God’s many blessings. Let us all conclude our summer and enter into this school year with a spirit of gratitude and awe as we once again take up this good work for the Greater Glory of God.

I look forward to the year ahead and all that we will accomplish as a Jesuit school family.

    Sincerely,

    Michael Wood ’99
    Principal
